Will - 1865 (Peel)

In the name of God Amen

I Basil Mylrea of the town of Peel in the parish Kirk German being of sound mind, memory and understanding and calling to mind the uncertainty of this mortal life do make this my last will and testament in form and manner following:

First I commit my soul to God and my body to Christian burial.

Item I leave, devise and bequeath my wife Jane and the whole of my moeity of a house and yard and stable in the rear of the said house situated in Bridge Street in the town of Peel.

Item I leave devise and bequeath to my son Edward Mylrea the sum of five pounds sterling as legacy and which sum of said pounds is not to be paid until after he the said Edward Mylrea attains the age of twenty-one years.

Item I leave devise and bequeath to my son Basil Mylrea the sum of five pounds sterling as legacy and which sum of said pounds is not to be paid until after he the said Basil Mylrea attains the age of twenty-one years.

Item I leave devise and bequeath to my son Philip Mylrea the sum of five pounds sterling as legacy and my clock and which sum of said pounds is not to be paid until after he the said Philip Mylrea attains the age of twenty-one years.

Item I leave devise and bequeath to my daughter Susannah Alice Mylrea the sum of five pounds sterling as legacy and a bed and bedding and which sum of said pounds is not to be paid until after she the said Susannah Alice Mylrea attains the age of twenty-one years.

Item I leave devise and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Price Mylrea the sum of five pounds sterling as legacy and a bed and bedding and which sum of said pounds is not to be paid until after she the said Elizabeth Price Mylrea attains the age of twenty-one years.

Lastly I constitute nominate and appoint my wife Jane Mylrea whole and sole executrix of all of my goods, cash, credits, chattles and effects moveable and immoveable of what nature or sort whatever debarring all other persons who may claim any other demands on my goods a one shilling legacy.

In testamony whereof I have added my mark to my name this twenty sixth day of May one thousand eight hundred and fifty one 1851 Basil Mylrea X his mark

NOTES

  1. Basil was the youngest son of Edward Mylrea & Susannah Cashen, born KK German 1691, and the grandson of Edward Mylrea and Alice Quayle of Arbory/Malew
  2. He married Jane Garrett in Peel 1828. Five children: Edward (1832), Basil (1833), Susannah Alice (1836), Elizabeth Price (1838), Philip (1840)
  3. Basil was a mariner, and a publican in Peel. Hotel was called White Lion, in Bridge St
  4. Jane died 1872
  5. Sons: Edward spent most of his life in London and was a master organ builder; Basil lived in Manchester and was a master jeweller, Philip went first to Australia then to the US where he died at a young age
